Mr Eardley's professional expertise extends beyond consultant clinical practice into national leadership, research and the development of standards of care within orthopaedic trauma. He currently serves as Chair of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Specialty Board in Trauma and Orthopaedics, is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association Trauma Committee and the Orthopaedic Trauma Registry Steering Committee, and has held numerous national leadership positions in research, education and clinical governance.

He previously served as Clinical Lead of the National Hip Fracture Database for England and Wales, overseeing one of the world's largest orthopaedic clinical audit programmes. He has also held leadership roles with the British Orthopaedic Association Trauma Committee, the Orthopaedic Trauma Society, AO UK & Ireland and the National Major Trauma Registry, contributing to national policy, clinical guidelines, research strategy and the continuous improvement of trauma care.

This breadth of clinical, academic and strategic leadership provides a unique perspective on the assessment of complex orthopaedic injury, standards of care and the independent evaluation of medicolegal cases.
